FEDERAL PARTIES RESPOND TO UCC SURVEY

Winnipeg – October 10, 2008 – In consultation with its national member organizations, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) asked the five major Canadian political parties, as well as, individual candidates running in the 2008 federal election, where they stood on important issues to the Ukrainian Canadian community.

These key issues included- Arctic Sovereignty, Multiculturalism, Canada-Ukraine relations, Citizenship and Immigration.

The Bloc Quebecois, Conservative, Green, Liberal and New Democrats parties were generally supportive of the key issues identified in the questionnaire.

“We are pleased with the overwhelming support by all five major Canadian political parties on the issues that are important to the Ukrainian Canadian community” stated Paul Grod, UCC National President. “The soon to be launched UCC Government Relations bureau will focus on working with the next government, all parties and the civil service, to ensure that these commitments are realized.”

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress is encouraging all Ukrainian Canadians to learn where your individual candidates in the 2008 federal election and their political parties stand on these key issues and exercise your right to vote.

LET THE VOICE OF THE UKRAINIAN CANADIAN COMMUNITY BE HEARD!
