The Shevchenko Medal is the highest form of recognition that can be granted by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC). It recognizes individuals of Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian descent, as well as institutions and organizations, for their outstanding national contribution towards the development of the Ukrainian Canadian community. Submission Deadline: June 15, 2010
Design Criteria: Black and White line design
Design Usage:
- Hanging medallion (2” x 2” circle) with matching lapel pin (1” x 1” circle)
- Displayed in shadowbox or on a free standing plaque (3” X 3” circle)
- Etched into glass, crystal or acrylic productions (3” x 3” circle)
Selection Process:
The submissions will be considered by the UCC Board of Directors meeting on June 25,2010. The selected design will become the property of UCC and the submitting artist will receive a $1,000.00 cash honourarium. All other design submissions will be returned to the submitting artists.
The first presentation of the newly designed Shevchenko Medal will take place at the XXIII triennial Congress on Nov. 6, 2010 in Edmonton, Alberta on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the UCC.
