Alberta Culture and Tourism, Mundare, Alberta. The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village (UCHV) is an award-winning living history museum showcasing the history of settlement in east central Alberta from 1892 – 1930. More than 35 historic buildings have been relocated from the surrounding community and restored to their original condition. The site’s “living history” approach to interpretation allows the visitor to travel back in time and learn first-hand our early pioneers’ struggles, challenges and daily experiences.
Reporting to the Director, UCHV, this position leads the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of activities that stimulate involvement by the UCHV’s targeted audiences to promote and increase visitation to the site. This position is instrumental in creating engagement with targeted audiences in online and social media platforms, and building positive relationships with the museum’s many stakeholder groups. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for leading a team of professionals in the stewardship of special events, volunteer services, group bookings and corporate sales, which contribute towards site visitation and engagement.
You are a proven leader able to work independently or in a team setting, motivating and directing staff while achieving quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment. You have strong communication and organizational skills and possess superior ability to balance presentation and preservation in a museum environment while delivering superior client-focused services. Your proficient business/marketing, promotions, media, community and corporate relation skills will allow the UCHV to stand out in Alberta’s tourism and heritage sectors. You also possess superior skills in managing content on online and social media platforms.

Drive for Results: This position plans and implements marketing activities and social media activities that align with the UCHV Business Plan, and increase visitation to the UCHV and engagement on the UCHV website and social media platforms.
Develop Networks: This position proactively builds effective relationships with a range of community and corporate stakeholders, tourism groups, media and online audiences to increase visitation to the UCHV.
System Thinking: This position provides leadership to the special events and volunteer services, group bookings and corporate sales areas. A broad understanding of how decisions impact UCHV operations is essential to develop and deliver new programs and experiences.
Agility: The position is required to work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to anticipate, assess, and readily adapt to changing priorities to maximize resources and capitalize on new opportunities.
Salary: $2,775.64 to $3,638.48 bi-weekly (~$72,444 to $94,964 annually).

Qualifications: University graduation and a minimum of four years of related and progressively responsible experience. Postgraduate completion of a Masters Degree, related diploma or certification program is preferred. Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience. Working knowledge of social media and computer applications including PC Microsoft Office software is required. Demonstrable knowledge of Ukrainian language (verbal and written skills) and culture an asset.

Candidates with lesser experience may be considered at a lower classification and salary level. The successful candidate will be required to undergo security screening. This position requires occasional out of town travel, evening and weekend work, the ability to lift heavy artifacts, and a valid class 5 driver’s license.
