Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Ontario Provincial CouncilThere are more than 330,000 Canadians of Ukrainian heritage in Ontario. Ukrainian Ontarians have continued to make a significant contribution to our country in the over 119 years since the first Ukrainian immigrants arrived in Canada.The Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Ontario Provincial Council (UCC OPC) is the voice of Ontario’s Ukrainian community. The Congress brings together under one umbrella the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Branches and community organizations from across Ontario. The 9 UCC branches it represents are located in Brantford, Durham, Hamilton, London, Ottawa, St. Catharines, Toronto, Welland and Windsor.The primary objectives of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Ontario Provincial Council are:

1. Strengthen our community
Strengthen communication between our communities and engage the next generation of young leaders.

2. Build a working relationship with government
Work with members of the provincial legislature of all parties on issues of importance to the community and our province.

3. Increase public outreach and engagement
Facilitate communication and knowledge sharing across our branches, create opportunities for public dialogue and increase youth engagement.

About the President – Yvan Baker

Yvan is a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group in Toronto. Previously, he has served as Executive Assistant to Borys Wrzesnewskyj, MP and as a member of Scotiabank’s commercial banking group.

Yvan is President of UCC – Ontario Provincial Council and is VP, External at UCC – Toronto.  He also serves on the Board of Leave Out Violence, a national charity that provides support to youth victims of violence and is a member of the Emerging Leaders Network.

Yvan has previously helped organize projects to reduce crime in at-risk neighbourhoods, preserve local parks and help Toronto attract and retain its top talent.

Recently, Yvan traveled to Rwanda where he helped Rwandan women develop and launch projects to address humanitarian issues such as lack of access to water, domestic violence, prostitution and HIV/AIDS.

Yvan holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College where he was student body president. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Yvan is fluent in English, French and Ukrainian.
