Talk by Ruslan Zabily (Lviv), Chair of Ukrainian Studies, 16

The Chair of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Ottawa cordially invites
you to a talk by Ruslan Zabily, General Director of the Lonskyi (Lacki)
Street Prison in Lviv on “The Current State of Archives, Museums and
Academic Freedom in Ukraine.”
Mr. Zabily will speak on access to archival materials of the Soviet era,
the prospects for historical research on the USSR and Ukrainian independence
efforts (as well as the politics of national memory) and attempts to harass
the academic community in Ukraine.
The talk will be held on Tuesday, October 16, at 7.30 PM in Room 12110 (12th
Floor) of the Desmarais Building, 55 Laurier Ave., on University Campus. The
campus map can be accessed at http://www.uottawa.ca/maps/.
The Desmarais Building is identified on the map as “DMS” and is located at
the intersection of Waller, Laurier and Nicholas Sts.
