STOP TERRORISM IN UKRAINE!

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress calls on the Government of Canada to provide immediate support for Ukraine to stop Russian state-sponsored terrorism and illegal occupation of Ukraine.  We also call on all Parliamentarians to support this effort and to condemn the Russian Federation for its illegal invasion and occupation of sovereign Ukrainian territory in Crimea and for sponsoring a terror campaign in eastern Ukraine, which has led to the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 and the death of 298 people.  Despite this tragedy, these Russian-led mercenaries continue their fighting in Ukraine and today downed two more Ukrainian military aircraft.  Despite warnings from the international community, Russia continues its attack on Ukraine, including kidnapping Ukrainian soldiers and holding them in Russian prisons on contrived charges.     

The Government of Canada has repeatedly stated its support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and has condemned Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine. 

Today, Canada must take concrete action to support Ukraine’s battle against the Russian led and sponsored terror campaign that has and will continue to disrupt global peace and security.

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress calls on the Government of Canada to take the following measures to support Ukraine:

• Include the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk “Peoples’ Republics” as organizations listed under Canada’s Anti-Terrorism Act – as terrorist entities that “have knowingly carried out, attempted to carry out, participated in, or facilitated a terrorist activity.” Canada must list the “DNR” and “LNR” as terrorist organizations.

THE UKRAINIAN CANADIAN CONGRESS CALLS ON ALL CONCERNED CANADIANS TO WRITE TO, CALL AND MEET WITH THEIR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, THE PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA AND THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS TO EXPRESS YOUR DEMAND THAT THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA TAKE THE ABOVE MEASURES IMMEDIATELY. SAMPLE LETTERS TO THE PRIME MINISTER, MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, AND TO YOUR MP ARE ATTACHED.
