TOGETHER, WE MADE THIS HAPPEN!
Yesterday, the Government of Canada announced additional non-lethal support for the Ukrainian military in the form of thousands of winter jackets, pants, boots and gloves. Canada is also providing secure telecommunications equipment, night and thermal vision devices, medical kits, a field hospital and other equipment that will save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers in the face of Putin’s continuing invasion and aggression.
It is because of the continuous efforts of the Ukrainian Canadian community to keep these issues at the forefront, despite media attention on other crises, that we were able to reach a positive outcome. Since the Congress made its request for additional military support, Ukrainians from across the country have attended meet and greet sessions, community events with MPs, visited dozens of MPs in their constituency and Parliament Hill offices asking Canada to help the sons and daughters of Ukraine to have the warm clothing they need to get them through the cold Ukrainian winter and the means to defend their country.
When we addressed the requests for large amounts of “winter kit” with government civil servants and officials, we were told that it was too large and was “unlikely to happen”. The naysayers were wrong and now thousands of Ukrainian troops will have warm clothing and other Canadian assistance in this battle for Ukraine’s sovereignty and the future of an independent Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress National office has been providing daily updates to our politicians and other decision makers which have resulted in experts calling Canadian politicians “the best informed and educated on the situation in Ukraine in the world.”
But we can’t do all of this without your support. Please support our National office, which deals with these issues on a day-to-day basis, and needs your assistance to keep up their tireless efforts. РАЗОМ, МИ ДОСЯГЛИ ЦЬОГО!
Вчора уряд Канади оголосив додаткову нелетальну підтримку української армії у вигляі тисячі зимових курток, штанів, чобіт і рукавичок. Канада також надає телекомунікаційне обладнання із спеціальним захистом від втручань, прилади нічного бачення, тепловізори, медичні аптечки, польовий шпиталь та інше обладнання, яке буде рятувати життя українських солдат в умовах триваючого вторгнення і агресії Путіна.
Саме завдяки безперервним зусиллям українсько – канадської громади, яка постійно тримала увагу до цих питань, незважаючи на інтерес з боку ЗМІ до інших криз, ми змогли досягти позитивного результату. Як Конґрес звернувся з проханням про отримання додаткової військової допомоги, українці з усієї країни взяли участь у зустрічах, громадських заходах з парламентаріями, відвідали десятки депутатів у їхніх виборчих округах та офісах в Парламенті, закликаючи Канаду до надання допомоги, потрібної синам і дочкам України для захисту своєї країни.
Коли ми звернулися із запитом до державних службовців та посадових осіб про великі обсяги «зимових наборів», нам сказали, що це «забагато» і «навряд чи відбудеться». Скептики були неправі, і тепер тисячі українських військових матиме теплий одяг та іншу допомогу від Канади в цій битві за суверенітет і майбутнє незалежної України.
Національний офіс Конґресу Українців Канади надає нашим політикам та іншим представникам влади щоденні бріфінги про події в Україні, завдяки чому експерти називають канадських політиків «найбільш інформованими і освідченими в світі щодо ситуації в Україні».
