The Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Hamilton Branch, has planned a series of events to recognize Holodomor Awareness Week.
Next week’s events will commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the genocide by famine of millions of Ukrainians from 1932 to 1933.
Voice of Survivors, a documentary recounting the tales of Holodomor survivors, will be screened on Monday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre, 241 Kenilworth Ave. N., Hamilton.
On Wednesday, Nov. 25 , from noon to 6 p.m., the Holodomor Museum will be open at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St.Vladimir, at 855 Barton St. E., Hamilton. A film presentation and display will be shown at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m., International Holodomor Memorial Day will be recognized with a memorial service at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection, 821 Upper Wentworth St., Hamilton.
Participants are asked to light a memorial candle at 7:32 p.m.
