UCC Congratulates Jagmeet Singh on Election as Leader of Canada’s NDP
October 3, 2017. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) congratulates Mr. Jagmeet Singh on his election as the leader Canada’s New Democratic Party. Mr. Singh was elected leader on the first ballot on October 1. The UCC congratulates all the NDP leadership candidates for a spirited and well-fought campaign and applauds all the candidates for their dedication to public service.
“On behalf of the Ukrainian Canadian community, I congratulate Mr. Singh on his election as leader of the NDP,” stated Paul Grod, National President of the UCC. “We look forward to meeting with Mr. Singh and continuing to work with the NDP on issues of importance to our community.”
Mr. Singh graduated from Osgoode Law School and was called to the Bar in 2006. In 2011, he was elected a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the riding of Bramalea-Gore-Malton. For the last two years he has been deputy leader of the Ontario NDP.
