Сьогодні відзначаєтся день народження Великого Кобзаря, Тараса Шевченка. 9-го березня українці відзначaють безмірний внесок Шевченка в розвиток української культури, національної ідентичності, та національної свідомості.

Хоч він прожив лиш 47 років, його численні вірші та мистецтво шанує цілий світ і його відданість Україні залишатимется в наших серцях назавжди. Шевченко виступав за самовизначення й свободу, й сьогодні, коли народ України хоробро захищає свою державу від російського вторгнення, слова Шевченка продовжують нас надихати.

Anniversary of the Birth of Taras Shevchenko

Today marks the 204^th anniversary of the birth of Ukraine’s bard, Taras Shevchenko. On March 9th we honour the immeasurable contributions of Shevchenko to Ukrainian culture and the formation of a Ukrainian national identity and national consciousness.

Though he lived only 47 years, he produced poetry and artwork that is cherished around the world. His dedication to the Ukrainian cause will remain close to our hearts forever. His voice spoke loudly and forcefully for self-determination and freedom. Today, as the people of Ukraine bravely battle to defend their country from Russia’s invasion, the words of Taras Shevchenko continue to inspire them and us.

• The Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Manitoba Provincial Council invites the Ukrainian community to attend the Annual Commemoration of Taras Shevchenko, which will take place at 1:30 PM on Saturday, March 10, 2018 on the grounds of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly in front of the Shevchenko Monument.
