National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate and thank Canada’s 12.7 million volunteers. From April 15-21, 2018 there will be events held across Canada to recognize the contributions of volunteers in our communities.
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress would like to thank the many thousands of community volunteers who give of their time to make our community strong, dynamic and vibrant!
Whether it is working with young people, volunteering at a local festival, making varenyky every week in the church hall, or assisting seniors, volunteers are vital to maintaining our community services and organizations.
We also recognize the hundreds hours contributed by the volunteer leadership of our organizations. Taking care of all the essential things such as maintaining buildings, issuing tax receipts, and managing the finances is critical to the survival of our many organizations. This includes of course the volunteer board members of every UCC branch and provincial council, as well as at each of our member organizations.
The Ukrainian Canadian community has for many years recognized outstanding volunteer contributions with several awards including the Youth Leadership Award, Community Leadership Award and the Shevchenko Medal, the highest recognition. We have a full list of award winners from 1962 onward on our website.
By working together, we have the means to meet our challenges and accomplish our goals. Your help in our community makes a difference!
