1. Russian Invasion of Ukraine
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense reported at 12:30 PM Kyiv time that in the last 24 hours, no Ukrainian soldiers were killed or wounded in action. In the last 24 hours, Russian-terrorist forces opened fire on Ukrainian positions on the Luhansk and Donetsk sectors of the front 30 times in total, including at least 5 times with heavy weapons – Grad rockets and mortars. Returning fire, Ukrainian forces wounded 2 enemy combatants in the last 24 hours.
2. UN experts call for immediate release of Oleh Sentsov
On August 15, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights stated,
“UN experts called on Russian authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Oleh Sentsov while expressing grave concern for his physical and mental integrity. […]
            The experts called on Russian authorities to ensure that Mr. Sentsov is immediately provided with access to appropriate medical treatment, based on his full and informed consent.
            ‘Sentsov’s life is in imminent danger. His hunger strike follows a trial and a conviction that has fallen short of international law. We urge Russian authorities to unconditionally release him as a matter of urgency,’ the experts said.”
3. Real income in Ukraine rises 10% in first half of year
Ukraine Business News reported, ” Ukrainians’ real incomes increased by 10% during the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year, according to the Social Policy Ministry. In nominal terms, hryvnia earnings were up 24%.”
