Happy belated 90th birthday to our loyal donor and supporter Maria Harasym
Mrs. Harasym was born in the Kalush region of Ukraine and came to Canada with her husband Wasyl in 1952. While in her new home she raised her 3 children and generously volunteered in our community earning her recognition and an award from the Canadian government for her 50 years of volunteering work. One of her many memories as a volunteer in late 70’s was to help fundraise money by making and selling perogies to build a new St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Scarborough, ON. Maria is also a proud member of the Ukrainian Canadian Women’s League, where her two daughters and a granddaughter are involved to this day. According to Maria, her involvement and giving back to the Ukrainian Canadian community made her life rich.
Even while on her modest pension, Mrs. Harasym has been donating to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress-National for over 12 years. She believes that the UCC is the glue of our community that keeps us together, connects us with Ukraine, and allows us to keep our heritage alive.
БАЖАЄМО ВАМ МНОГАЯ ЛІТА!
