
August 25, 2020. OTTAWA. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) congratulates the Honourable Erin O’Toole (MP, Durham) on his election as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition. Mr. O’Toole was elected leader on August 24.
“On behalf of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, I congratulate Mr. O’Toole on his election as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada,” stated Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the UCC. “The UCC looks forward to continuing to work closely with Mr. O’Toole and the Conservative Party on issues of importance to our community.”
The UCC thanks outgoing Conservative Party leader Andrew Scheer for his commitment, service and strong position in support of Ukraine in the face of Russia’s aggression.
The UCC applauds all candidates who participated in the Conservative Party’s leadership race for a spirited and vigorous campaign. We thank them for their dedication and service to Canada.
A veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, Mr. O’Toole was first elected a Member of Parliament in 2012 and served as Minister of Veterans Affairs in 2015.
