October 22, 2020. OTTAWA, ON. Today the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) met with the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss key issues of importance to the Ukrainian Canadian community.
A delegation of over 30 representatives of Ukrainian Canadian organizations and community leaders led by UCC National President Alexandra Chyczij discussed with Minister Champagne Canada’s support for Ukraine, Canada’s sanctions policy, the Canada-Ukraine defence and security relationship, and priorities for Canada’s development program in Ukraine.
“I thank Minister Champagne for an engaging and interesting discussion. Canada remains one of Ukraine’s closest allies, and Canada’s continuing support is key to Ukrainians’ efforts to defend their country against Russia’s aggression,” stated Chyczij. “Ukrainians and Canadians are bound together by the fundamental principle that all peoples have the inherent right to self-determination, the right to liberty and to peace. Our community is proud of Canada’s commitment to supporting these values and the people of Ukraine.”
The UCC presented Minister Champagne with a briefing note of our community’s priorities for Canada-relations, which can be read here.
