January 14, 2022. OTTAWA, ON. A delegation of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) met today with the Honourable Anita Anand, Canada’s Minister of National Defence.
The UCC delegation briefed Minister Anand on Russia’s dangerous escalation of aggression against Ukraine and the increasing threat of a further Russian invasion of Ukraine’s territory and made policy recommendations to increase Canadian and Allied support for Ukraine’s defence of its independence and sovereignty.
“We thank Minister Anand for taking the time to meet with us. As Russia escalates its aggression against Ukraine, it is vital that Canada and allies remain steadfast in their support of Ukraine,” stated UCC National President Alexandra Chyczij. “The time for action in support of Ukraine and to deter a further Russian invasion is now. We call on Canada and allies to provide Ukraine with defensive weapons and to increase sanctions on Russia.”
Joining the UCC National President at today’s meeting were Vice Presidents Ann Szyptur and Olesia Luciw-Andryjowycz, Director of Government Relations Paul Migus, UCC’s CEO Ihor Michalchyshyn, and UCC Senior Policy Advisor Orest Zakydalsky.
