As many of you know, on Saturday, the Canadian government bowed to Russian blackmail and issued a permit to allow the return of a sanctioned Nordstream 1 turbine to Russia via Germany. You can read a statement from Alexandra Chyczij, UCC National President, here:

Subsequently, the UCC learned that the permit allows not only the return of the sanctioned turbine that is currently in Canada, it extends to all NS1 turbines which might require servicing in Canada in future. This will allow the pipeline to function indefinitely and will finance Russia’s war machine which is committing genocide against the Ukrainian people.
Canada is not only contravening its policy of isolating Russia, it is also setting a dangerous precedent that will lead to the weakening of the sanctions regime imposed on Russia, and the increase of Russian energy terrorism and blackmail.
TELL PRIME MINISTER TRUDEAU TO REVOKE THE PERMIT!

Your government has bowed to Russian energy blackmail by granting a permit to Siemens Canada to permit the return of sanctioned Nordstream 1 turbines to Russia via Germany. I urge you to revoke this permit immediately.
Russia is committing genocide against the Ukrainian people. By facilitating the ongoing servicing of NS1 turbines in Canada and their return to Russia you will enable this sanctioned pipeline to continue to finance the genocide of Ukrainians.
Instead of weakening sanctions on Russia, Canada should be strengthening them and providing Ukraine with more heavy weapons and economic aid to help Ukraine to defeat Russia.
