July 23, 2022. OTTAWA, ON. Following today’s Russian cruise missile attack on the Ukrainian port of Odesa, Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) issued the following statement:
One day after signing an agreement with the United Nations that would allow for the export of Ukrainian grain to the developing world, Russia has bombed the port from whence much of that grain is to be exported.
This is the entirely predictable action of a terrorist state that seeks to destroy Ukraine and the Ukrainian people and instigate famine and misery in the international community. No accommodation with Russia is possible because Russia does not seek agreement – Russia seeks destruction, chaos and desolation.
We call on Canada and allies to provide Ukraine the weapons needed to defeat Russia, designate Russia a state supporter of terrorism and expel all Russian diplomats from Canada.
