November 30, 2022. Ottawa, ON. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) is pleased to see the successful completion of the five-year $500 million Ukraine Sovereignty Bond. This Bond was announced by Prime Minister Trudeau at the XXVII Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians on October 28, 2022.
According to the Department of Finance, nearly $50 million from individual Canadians was invested, in addition to institutional investors.
“The Ukraine Sovereignty Bond is an excellent opportunity for all Canadians to continue to demonstrate their strong support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. With the quick success of this offering, we see strong potential for future opportunities to invest in Ukraine’s freedom, peace, and democracy in Europe.,” stated Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the UCC. “We applaud the Government of Canada for establishing this visionary opportunity and call on all states who value liberty and democracy to follow the example set by Canada.”
The funds will assist the Government of Ukraine so it can continue to provide essential services to Ukrainians this winter, such as pensions, the purchasing of fuel, and restoring energy infrastructure.
