February 15, 2023. OTTAWA, ON. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) welcomes the report – The Russian State’s Illegal War of Aggression Against Ukraine, issued by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development on February 14.
“Representatives of the UCC testified several times during the Committee’s hearings. The views and priorities of the Ukrainian Canadian community have informed the Committee’s work and are reflected in several of the Committee’s recommendations,” stated Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the UCC, who appeared before the Committee in August. “In particular, the UCC welcomes the Committee’s recommendations that Canada continue to provide significant military and economic support to Ukraine; that Canada work to improve coordination and transparency of sanctions; that Canada play a leading role in the pursuit of justice for Russian war crimes, and that Canada list the criminal Russian Wagner Group a terrorist organization.”
Russia’s full-scale genocidal war against Ukraine is entering its second year. Canada and its allies have at their disposals and in their arsenals the military and economic resources the courageous Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian Armed Forces need to win this war in the coming year. Now is the time for Canada and allies to provide Ukraine with these resources.
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) will continue to work closely with all Members of Parliament and Senators to ensure continuing strong and resolute support for the Ukrainian people and Ukraine’s battle in defence of freedom.
