May 12, 2023. OTTAWA, ON. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) is renewing its call for the Government of Canada to expel Russia’s “diplomats” from Canada. Representatives of a genocidal, terrorist regime have no place in Canada.
Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the UCC, stated, “There are over 80 Russian so-called ‘diplomats’ accredited in Canada – far more than some of our closest allies such as the United Kingdom or Germany have accredited. It is difficult to understand why Canada allowed such a disproportionately high number of Russian foreign agents to operate in Canada in the first place, and now refuses to expel them, despite evidence in two consecutive reports of the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians that these are foreign malign agents.”
On Wednesday, Chyczij spoke with CPAC’s PrimeTime Politics on this important issue. You can view the video here:
UCC CEO Ihor Michalchyshyn stated, “Since Russia launched its full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, NATO and EU allies have expelled over 600 diplomats, dealing a blow to Russia’s espionage and destabilization activities. Yet Canada has not expelled a single Russian diplomat since 2018. These so-called diplomats are clearly engaged in espionage and destabilization of Canadian society. It is difficult to understand why our Government refuses to act to expel them to protect Canadians.”
