October 20, 2023. OTTAWA, ON. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) welcomes the introduction by the Honourable Senator Stan Kutcher of Bill S-276, An Act Respecting Ukrainian Heritage Month, which would establish September as Ukrainian Heritage Month in Canada. The UCC calls on Parliament to swiftly adopt this legislation.
“As the Ukrainian people defend their country from Russia’s genocidal aggression, Ukrainian Heritage Month in Canada will provide an occasion for us to reflect on the values of freedom and democracy that unite us all,” stated Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the UCC. “It will also be an opportunity to celebrate the many important contributions Ukrainian Canadians have made to our country for the past 130 years. We are grateful to Senator Kutcher for introducing this important legislation. We call on both Houses of Parliament to move swiftly on its adoption.”
