December 29, 2023. OTTAWA, ON. Following today’s Russian terror strikes against Ukrainian civilians, Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) issued the following statement:
“In one of its largest air attacks against Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion, Russia murdered at least 30 Ukrainian civilians and injured over 130.
We join the Ukrainian people in grief and mourning for the victims of this heinous Russian crime. May the Memory of the Victims Be Eternal. Вічная Пам’ять.
Russian cruise missiles, drones, bombers, and rockets hit Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Dnipro and other cities. Russia targeted residential buildings, a maternity hospital, schools, parking lots in order to murder and hurt as many civilians as possible. This Russian attack on innocent people is another act of barbarism – in a long litany of Russian atrocities – which demands a strong response from the international community.
Canada and our allies must give Ukraine the weapons and tools Ukraine needs to defeat Russia. Canada and our allies must label Russia what it is – a terrorist state. Canada and our allies must implement a full trade embargo on Russia.
Terror must be defeated. We urge all Canadians to join the UCC’s Call to Action. Contact your Member of Parliament – and tell them to Stand With Ukraine.
