The Ukrainian Canadian Congress extends heartfelt greetings to all Canadians on Multiculturalism Day!
Multiculturalism continues to be the cornerstone that shapes the rich and dynamic mosaic of Canadian culture, uniting us as Canadians while celebrating our diversity of our origins. The Ukrainian Canadian community in Canada was instrumental in the establishment of the policy of Multiculturalism, which was announced by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in October 1971 at the Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians in Winnipeg. Senator Paul Yuzyk (1913-1986), a proud Ukrainian Canadian, is widely acknowledged as the “Father of Multiculturalism.”

As we celebrate Multiculturalism Day this year, let us honor the contributions of Ukrainian Canadians and all communities that enrich our collective heritage. Together, let us reaffirm our dedication to fostering an inclusive society where every individual, irrespective of background, can flourish and contribute to our shared freedom and prosperity.
As Russia’s genocidal war of aggression against Ukraine continues for a third year, we remain grateful for Canada’s commitment to welcoming Ukrainians who have sought shelter here from Russia’s war. We thank the thousands of volunteers from coast to coast to coast – from the Ukrainian Canadian community and beyond – who have given time and support to Ukrainian displaced persons.
On this occasion, we express our gratitude: Дякую, Канада! Thank you, Canada! Merci, Canada!
Happy Multiculturalism Day! З днем багатокультурності! Joyeuse Journée du Multiculturalism!
