As we celebrate the 157th anniversary of Confederation, we, as Ukrainian Canadians, reflect on the remarkable journey of our two nations. From our shared past to our hopeful future, Canada and Ukraine have grown together through mutual respect and support.
For over a century, Ukrainians have come to Canada, where they found freedom and opportunity.
Today, the Ukrainian people bravely defend their country from Russia’s genocidal war of aggression. We are grateful to Canada for the military, economic, and humanitarian assistance provided to Ukraine. We deeply appreciate the open arms with which Canadians have welcomed Ukrainians seeking refuge from Russia’s war.
On this Canada Day, we are reminded of the shared values of democracy and respect for fundamental human rights that unite Canada and Ukraine.
We thank Canadians from coast to coast to coast for Canada’s steadfast support for Ukraine, celebrate the remarkable achievements of Ukrainian Canadians, and wish everyone a Happy Canada Day!
