UCC National President Alexandra Chyczij wrote to Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly and Minister of Public Safety Dominic LeBlanc regarding Russia’s support for Ansarallah, also known as the Houthis, listed as a terrorist entity pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.
“It is publicly known and well-reported by media and open intelligence sources that the Russian Federation provides aid, weapons, comfort and support to Ansarallah,” Chyczij wrote. “It does little to improve the safety and security of Canadians to list terrorist entities without targeting those under whose protection and with whose support those so listed operate. The UCC once again calls on you and the Government of Canada to provide Canadians the protection they deserve and list the Russian Federation as a state supporter of terrorism.”
