Dec 18, 2024 (Ottawa, ON) Since February 2022, Canada has welcomed approximately 300,0000 Ukrainian nationals through the Canada Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) visa, a 3-year authorization to live and work in Canada.
Canada could soon have large numbers of Ukrainian newcomers living in Canada without valid work permits, which would leave these individuals with no means of supporting themselves and their families.
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) calls on the Government of Canada to continue to demonstrate the compassion that Canadians are known for and to allay the fears of displaced Ukrainians, their employers, and the community that supports them.
The UCC is calling on Minister Marc Miller to implement an automatic 3-year extension of the visa, associated work permits and benefits for all CUAET visa holders in Canada.
This week we wrote to Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship to request a meeting and discuss this urgent matter. You can read our entire letter to the Minister here.
Today we ask you to join our call-to-action and contact Minister Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and your Member of Parliament to ask them to extend the CUAET visa for Ukrainians!
