July 4, 2025. OTTAWA, ON. Throughout the night, Russia perpetrated one of the largest terror-bombings of Ukrainian civilians since Russia launched its genocidal war against Ukrainian civilians – firing over 550 drones and ballistic missiles at Kyiv.
Russian bombing lasted more than 7 hours and followed the unjustified halt by the Trump administration of crucial military aid – including air defence interceptors – already en route to Ukraine.
One Ukrainian civilian was killed and at least 26 injured. First responders are rescuing victims trapped in the rubble. Yesterday, Russian drones struck Poltava – two civilians were killed and over 60 injured. Every day, Russia murders Ukrainian civilians.

“Russia is intent on destroying Ukraine and will only stop if allies provide the means for Ukraine to close its skies and defeat Russia. Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilians have increased dramatically under the Trump administration. We call on Canada, the UK and European states to urgently provide Ukraine with air defences to protect Ukrainian skies and the weapons Ukraine needs to defeat Russia,” stated Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the UCC. “Sanctions against Russia must crush the Russian war machine. NATO allies have the military stockpiles and the economic might to help Ukraine defeat Russia. They must use the tools they have available and save the lives of Ukrainian civilians.”
