January 23, 2026. OTTAWA, ON. Members of Parliament return to Ottawa for the winter session on Monday. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) calls on Canada to help Ukraine defend its skies from brutal Russian aggression and assist Ukrainian civilians at this time of intense cold weather and barbaric Russian terrorist attacks.
“Ukraine desperately needs more air defence systems and ammunition to defend the lives of civilians and protect energy infrastructure from unprecedented Russian attacks. Ukraine’s civilian energy infrastructure has been devastated by Russia’s brutal campaign and millions of Ukrainian civilians are daily without heat, water and electricity in one of the coldest winters on record,” stated Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC). “We call on Members of Parliament to support the urgent provision of air defence systems, ammunition, and equipment to renew Ukraine’s energy sector.”

The UCC calls on Members of Parliament to:
- Ensure that Ukraine immediately receives air defence systems and ammunition
- Ensure that Ukraine immediately receives equipment and financial assistance for Ukraine’s energy sector
The UCC continues to advocate for a pathway to permanent residency for Ukrainians displaced to Canada by Russia’s war: UCC joins Senator Kutcher calling on Government to provide pathway to permanent residency for displaced Ukrainians

Dear [NAME OF YOUR MP]
As your constituent, I urge you to help Ukraine defend its skies and to assist Ukrainian civilians during one of the coldest winters on record. Russia’s barbaric air attacks on Ukrainian civilian energy infrastructure are timed to cause maximum damage to civilians – taking out heating, water and light during the harshest winter conditions.
I call on you to support the urgent delivery of air defence systems and ammunition to Ukraine, and to support the urgent delivery of equipment and financial assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector, so that heating, water and light can be restored to Ukrainian cities.
I also ask that you support a pathway to permanent residence for Ukrainians displaced to Canada by Russia’s war.
Thank you,
[YOUR NAME/SIGNATURE]
