The Ukrainian Canadian Congress awards the Shevchenko Medal to Eugene Czolij in recognition of his outstanding and dedicated leadership of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC). He strengthened the Ukrainian presence in Ottawa with high level presentations made before committees of the Canadian Parliament on behalf of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and the Ukrainian community and also enhanced the infrastructure and structure of the UCC.
