
Eugene Roman
BIO
As the chief technology officer of Canadian Tire, Eugene has prime responsibility for the evolution and operational support of all digital, backoffice and interactive technologies of the corporation. His mission is to deploy highly advanced technologies and use of next generation digital platforms to grow the revenue of the corporation and evolve key digital platforms to support the evolving needs of the corporation. He introduced a global delivery model to the corporation which successfully uses top digital talent from leading IT centric countries such as Ukraine, Belarus and India to support the delivery of advanced digital platforms.
Eugene recently retired from the Board of Ukrainian Credit Union where he chaired the board for 15 years and helped the company triple in size and reach to become one of Canada’s leading financial institutions serving Ukrainians in Ontario.
Over the past 35 years he has been a strong supporter and donor to many things Ukrainian in various organizations and is active in mentoring, coaching and encouraging young Ukrainian Canadians to reach for the stars. His favourite cause is the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv which he supports in various ways.
Eugene holds a Master’s Degree in Administration, Bachelor’s Degree in Locational Economics, is a CPA, and is a recent graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors program. He is an acclaimed futurist and public speaker whose focuses on “The Future of the Digital World”. He is an industry professor in Design Engineering at McMaster University where he teaches student critical thinking skills for a complex digital world.
