The Ukrainian Canadian Congress presents the Ukrainian Canadian Youth Leadership Award of Excellence to Lesia Luciuk in recognition for her leadership ability, demonstrated initiative and communication skills at the regional and national level of CYMK, the Ukrainian Self-Reliance Lease d and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
Lesia Luciuk has assumed many leadership roles in CYMK (Ukrainian Orthodox Youth), serving as Pres ident and Vice-President of the Saskatchewan Provincial Executive of CYM and President of the Regina Branch. She organized new branches of CYMK, promoted youth activities, and articulated ideas about the Ukrainian community at various provincial and national forums. Lesia also displayed excellent skills at the 51″ Convention of the Ukrainian Self-Reliance League of Canada, chairing the CYMK youth sessions. In 1999 she was appointed representative of the Ukrainian Self-Reliance League to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
Lesia Luciuk is currently studying law at Dalhousie University. She has taken an active interest in university affairs. In Regina, she was the student representative to both the Department of French and the Faculty of Arts. In Halifax, she is student representative for the Dalhousie Law Students’ Society and Faculty Council, as well as part of the editorial team for the Dalhousie Journal of Legal Studies.
