
Petro Schturyn

Petro Schturyn has been a Ukrainian community activist for over 30 years, originally in Montreal and then Toronto. He began his Ukrainian community involvement volunteering as a counsellor with the Ukrainian Youth Association (UYA) of Quebec, became President of the McGill Ukrainian Students Club and then took on leadership roles with the UYA Montreal, Toronto and then with the UYA National Executive. In more recent years he has served as Chair of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Parish Council, Chair of the Toronto Ukrainian Foundation, President of the Ukrainian World Foundation and for the last 12 years as Vice President of Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Toronto Branch. Petro was both treasurer and active member of the organizing group that sent 300 election observers to Ukraine during the Orange Revolution. He is a founding member and ongoing treasurer of the Euromaidan Committee in Toronto which has raised over $1.3 million for support of Ukraine’s fight for independence and territorial integrity. His wife Natalia and their 5 children Roksoliana, Maksym, Myroslav, Dania and Melania, are all actively engaged in the Ukrainian community in Toronto.
