Svitlana Kominko
BIO
Svitlana Kominko was born in Ternopil, Ukraine. She holds a PhD in Developmental Psychology, as well as a Masters degree in Public Relations. Svitlana’s versatile career path stems from her exposure to different cultures since a young age.
She has had the privilege to complete prestigious international fellowships and traineeships in the UK and the USA and has always brought best practices back to her professional community in Ukraine. For many years, Svitlana taught in various universities; however, with her exposure to international development projects in Ukraine, Svitlana quickly found a niche for herself in the non-for-profit sector.
Svitlana now lives in Vancouver, B.C. and is actively involved in the Ukrainian community. In November 2013 in response to Maidan events in Kyiv, Svitlana organized Euromaidan in Vancouver, which played an instrumental role for Ukrainian and other ethnic communities in support activities towards Ukraine.
Svitlana is a founder of O.W.L. Open World Learning–a non-for-profit that facilitates study abroad programs for Ukrainian students and is also actively developing a psychological rehabilitation program for Ukrainian veterans.
Always on the go, Svitlana enjoys travelling, meeting new people, and giving back to the global community.
