- National Holodomor Memorial Day November 22, 2025

This year, as we mark the 92nd commemoration of the Holodomor, we remain united in remembrance. The ruthless Russian aggressor is committing yet another genocide of the Ukrainian people and is deliberately attempting to destroy all things Ukrainian. We must remain one with the Ukrainian people in protecting our history, identity, and sharing the truth.

Our message is simple. We are a resilient people whose strength lies in our truth and our unity.

We unite under this international motto as designated by the Ukrainian World Congress:

Пам’ятаємо Голодомор. Ґеноцид триває.

We remember the Holodomor. The genocide continues.

We unite –

  • In memory of all, who throughout the centuries were lost to a nation;
  • In honour of our Holodomor survivors with whom the community was blessed, their will to survive and their hope for a brighter future;
  • In sharing the stories of the People of Truth, who tried to alert the world;
  • In honour of the women and men who throughout history to today defend Ukrainian territory and the Ukrainian people from the genocidal assault of the enemy;
  • In recognition of the bravery and resilience of the Ukrainian people today with their heartbreaking yet inspirational stories.

Because when we unite in remembrance, we fuel the courage, will, resolve and resilience that will lead us to victory.

Updates for 2025

Engaging descendants of survivors

The Ukrainian World Congress International Holodomor Coordinating Committee launched the Global Holodomor Descendants Network in fall 2020 to create a platform for communication, support, advocacy, and activism.

To learn more visit https://hdn.ukrainianworldcongress.org/.

In Canada, we are looking to our descendants to help guide our path forward as we build on our efforts and successes in the lead up to the 100th anniversary. Discussion will be facilitated during a Holodomor Town Hall prior to the upcoming 28th Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians on shaping our vision and building a Canadian network that will always memorialize the Holodomor and its victims.

A valuable Canadian resource titled Children of Holodomor Survivors Speak was developed by the Ukrainian Canadian Research and Documentation Centre (UCRDC). This is a great project to share with descendants in your community in promoting the network.

You can hear the stories as told by descendants of Holodomor survivors as part of a project launched by the Ukrainian Canadian Research and Documentation Centre titled Children of Holodomor Survivors Speak. This is a great project to share with descendants in your community in promoting the network.

If you are aware of any descendants in your community who would like more information about the network and getting involved, please contact the UCC National Holodomor Awareness Resource material.
