Online

In response to the ongoing pandemic, Ukrainian Canadian Congress Alberta Provincial Council has reshaped our Ukrainian Day festival into a week-long celebration online!

There will be an entire week of online festivities starting on August 16th and ending on August 24th День Незалежності (Ukrainian Independence Day). We will be providing links for the events on our facebook page, and supplementary information will be provided on our website www.uccab.ca. Use the hashtag #UADays2020 when posting about the festival!

The festival will be split into 5 distinct series:
ART – Exclusive interviews with the artists (pottery, bead work, pysanky, embroidery) and an original masterclass.
PERFORMANCE – Dance master classes on different styles and a feature live dance performance; Ukrainian band performing exclusively for the Ukrainian Days festival.
COOKING – Master classes lead by two talented Ukrainian chefs and live Q&A.
ROOTS – Unique series featuring the art of homesteading, entrepreneurial stories; original videos and interviews with outstanding Ukrainian individuals in Alberta; children’s storytelling.
ДЕНЬ НЕЗАЛЕЖНОСТІ (Ukrainian Independence Day)– Videos about Ukraine’s independence and exclusive greetings from Ukraine, local vocal and musical talents performing modern content.

We hope you will join us in August for Ukrainian Days online! Like our page to stay informed as we release more details!

Calgary

The Covid-19 pandemic has reshaped this year’s Independence Day of Ukraine celebrations. While we can not have a large concert and in-person community gathering, we are organizing an Auto Rally of Unity to bring our community together to mark the Independence Day of Ukraine.

The event is envisioned and led by Ihor Bohdan, Advisory Council, UCC Calgary with the support of UCC Calgary.

The auto rally will depart from the Assumption Church at 9:30 am on August 23, 2020. The route is as follows: Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church – St. Stephen Protomartyr Ukrainian Catholic Church – St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor – Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church.

The detailed road route will be provided in due time. All drivers should observe traffic rules.
To participate in the event, please make sure you follow the Alberta Government COVID-19 prevention measures at https://www.alberta.ca/prevent-the-spread.aspx. Please bring flags of Ukraine and Canada, posters and other symbols. If attaching anything to the car, make sure it is not loose.
