The local Ukrainian community has organized a Church service to pray for the full and speedy recovery of Ukrainian journalist, Tetyana Chornovol, who was severely beaten on December 25th, after being dragged from her car near Kyiv, Ukraine.
Ms. Chornovol feels that she was targeted due to her investigative journalistic efforts, exposing corruption and massive theft by leading government officials in Ukraine.
The Community is gathering to offer prayer and spiritual support to such a courageous individual.
The Moleben’ ( church service) will take place on Friday, January 10th at 7PM at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral located at 2338 Lakeshore Blvd West in Toronto. Rev. Walter Makarenko will officiate.
The Ukrainian community is proud to have the support of local MP’s: Ted Opitz,MP, and Bernard Trottier, MP. These two parliamentarians have been very vocal in their support of Human Rights in Ukraine.
Friends and family of Tetyana are aware of Canadian efforts. At the end of the service a registry will be signed by attendees and delivered personally to Tetyana on January 18th in Kyiv, Ukraine.
We encourage the press to attend the Moleben’, and provide appropriate coverage.
