May 6, 2026. OTTAWA, ON. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) held a successful Advocacy Day on Parliament Hill on May 4.
Over 60 delegates representing UCC membership from the Pacific to the Atlantic oceans held meetings with Cabinet Ministers and over 45 Parliamentarians of all political parties represented in the House of Commons.
“Our message is simple – help Ukraine win. The tide of battle is turning in Ukraine’s favour. With the support of Canada and other allies, Ukraine can defeat Russia and return peace to Europe,” stated Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the UCC, who led the delegation. “Thank you to everyone who participated in UCC’s Advocacy Day, and to all Parliamentarians who took the time to meet with us.”
The UCC’s Advocacy Day delegation called on Canada to support Ukraine’s victory by focusing on three priorities:
- Strengthening joint Canada-Ukraine defence production and increasing the delivery of military assistance to Ukraine;
- Increasing support for the Canadian private sector that seeks to invest in Ukraine;
- Promoting shared values by ensuring that justice prevails by making Russia pay for its aggression, returning abducted Ukrainian children, civilians and military personnel, and supporting Ukrainian displaced persons who are in Canada.

The UCC’s Advocacy Day delegation included the UCC Youth Ambassadors, whose graduation ceremony was graciously hosted by Ukraine’s Embassy to Canada, and representatives of the Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union (SUSK).
The Advocacy Day program included a special program for young delegates who were invited on a tour of the House of Commons and attended Question Period.
Youth delegates also took part in engaging and motivating roundtable discussions led by Senator Stan Kutcher and former Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Waschuk. The UCC is grateful to them for inspiring the next generation of leaders.
“The Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union was very glad to be able to participate in UCC Advocacy Day,” stated Anastasiya Kornyat, SUSK President. “This was an excellent opportunity for our students to learn more about Canada’s government and the importance of political engagement, while actively advocating for important issues affecting Ukraine.”
