UCC President’s Club Member: Andrea Kopylech

I love writing about our donors and supporters. Each one has a different story to tell, a different reason to give and support, but they all share the same goal. They want our community to thrive!
Today I would like to write about one such donor. It is my pleasure to share the story of my colleague Andrea Kopylech, a UCC volunteer, donor, President’s Club member, and supporter of our mission for over 14 years.
Some of you might already know Andrea, our former 1st Vice President, Chair of the UCC National Executive Board volunteer, and a UCC Fundraising Committee member.
Andrea is a passionate volunteer from Edmonton and previously held a position as a Chair of the Ukrainian Canadian Arts Network. She has volunteered with UCC Saskatoon, UCC Saskatchewan Provincial Council, and UCC Alberta Provincial Council.
She also served on the Ukrainian Bilingual Parent Advisory Society board as Vice President and a member of the Contemporary Ukrainian Studies Program Advisory Council with the Canadian Institute for Ukrainian Studies at the UofA.
Andrea is, above all else, a proud Ukrainian Canadian who believes that our community is worth investing in. In her own words, “it is important to support the UCC National because the work UCC does brings together voices from across the country, our Ukrainian Canadian Community, and creates opportunities for all of us to continue to explore our heritage and to share our culture as Canadians. It is more than identity; it is about belonging to something bigger. Volunteering with UCC for many years allowed me to learn about other Ukrainian Canadian communities across the country – their successes and challenges, how they have struggled, and how they have thrived. Sometimes we shared the same challenges, but every community had its own unique approach to tackling these challenges. Coming together, working together, sharing those experiences reminds me that we belong to a much bigger community. And being a part of that makes for a rich and full life.”
Thank you, Andrea! Your loyalty, love, hard work, and commitment to the UCC and the community as a whole ensures we continue to thrive as a vibrant and united group from coast to coast to coast!
