June 18, 2025. OTTAWA, ON. A delegation of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) led by Alexandra Chyczij, UCC National President, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Calgary yesterday on the margins of the G7 Leaders Summit.
“We are honoured to welcome President Zelenskyy in Canada. We stressed to President Zelenskyy that we will keep doing all in our power to ensure that our Government strongly supports Ukraine and increases pressure on Russia,” stated Chyczij. “We applaud today’s announcement by Prime Minister Carney of additional military and economic assistance to Ukraine and increased sanctions on Russia. With the support of Canada and allies, Ukraine can defeat Russia and return a just peace to Europe.”
Chyczij expressed the Ukrainian Canadian community’s profound outrage at the vicious Russian terror-bombing attack on Kyiv, in which Russia murdered over 15 civilians and injured over 100, and offered our community’s deepest condolences to the Ukrainian people. May the Memory of the Victims Be Eternal. Вічная Пам’ять.
Earlier yesterday, the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, announced a new military and economic aid package to Ukraine, and increased sanctions on Russia.

- New sanctions on Russia’s shadow fleet and energy revenue
