July 6, 2026. OTTAWA, ON. Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) issued the following statement:
For the second time in less than a week, last night Russia carried out a sustained and vicious ballistic missile attack against Ukrainian civilians in Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine. Russia murdered at least 19 civilians and injured at least 77. The Ukrainian Canadian community joins the Ukrainian people in mourning. May the Memory of the Victims Be Eternal. Вічная Пам’ять.
Unable to advance on the battlefield, Russia has shown time and again that it intends to make Ukraine unliveable by purposely targeting apartment buildings, hospitals, and other civilian infrastructure with ballistic missiles.
To protect civilians, cities and towns, Ukraine desperately needs the interceptor missiles that NATO allies hold in their stockpiles. NATO allies have the air defence systems and munitions to help Ukraine close the sky, protect civilians and defeat Russia.
The NATO Leaders Summit begins tomorrow in Ankara. We call on NATO leaders to urgently provide Ukraine the air defence munitions and systems necessary to defend Ukraine’s skies and stop Russian terror.
