April 29, 2025. OTTAWA, ON. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) congratulates Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberal Party of Canada on their victory in yesterday’s Federal Election.
“The Ukrainian Canadian community looks forward to working with Prime Minister Carney and the new government,” stated Alexandra Chyczij, National President of the UCC. “We are grateful to all candidates who ran in the election and for their willingness to serve Canada.”
The 2025 Election took place at a time of great consequence for the future of Canada, our alliances and Canada’s role in the world. Russia wages a genocidal war of aggression against Ukraine. President Trump threatens Canada’s sovereignty and economy.
Prior to the election, the UCC published policy priorities, which are essential for the defence of Canadian, Ukrainian and European freedom:
- Canadian security and defence
- Canadian and global energy security
- Supporting Ukraine’s defence
- Isolating and holding Russia to account
- Assisting Displaced Ukrainians
The UCC 2025 Policy Guide is available here:
During the election campaign, the UCC surveyed the leaders of Canada’s political parties on these policy priorities. Their responses are available here:
The UCC expresses its gratitude to all the volunteers, candidates and election officials for their commitment to Canada’s democracy.
