In October 1917, the Bolshevik Revolution gave birth to the deadliest ideology in human history – Communism. In less than 100 years, Communism has claimed more than 100 million lives. This year, Tribute to Liberty in accordance with the Toronto and Etobicoke/Mississauga Chapters of the League of Ukrainian Canadians (LUC), League of Ukrainian Canadian Women (LUCW) Ukrainian Youth Association of Canada (CYM), Society of Veterans of UPA are hosting a Benefit Luncheon with distinguished Members of Parliament, to honour the victims of communism.
The Benefit Luncheon will take place on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Community Centre on 482 Horner Ave. and it is open to organizations, families and individuals of all ages. The event will be held with the presence of three Members of Parliament: Bernard Trottier, Ted Opitz and Bob Dechert. All donations will benefit the establishment of a memorial in Canada’s National Capital Region. The commemorative monument to the victims of the regime will stand as an enduring reminder of the murderous legacy of totalitarianism.
